FAT THURSDAY IN POLAND

In Poland, on Thursday 16th February, we celebrated a day known as Tłusty Czwartek. In the United States, Fat Tuesday, also known as Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras, is the day to indulge before Lent begins. In many parts of Eastern Europe, Fat Thursday (the last Thursday before Lent) heralds the winding down of Carnival season.

Old traditions - New traditions: Dragobete - St. Valentine's Day

On February 24 in some parts of Romania the Dragobete is celebrated as Lovers' day.
This year we have decided to celebrate both the Dragobete and St. Valentine's Day as both Lovers' day and Friendship day, according to the age of my students.
We had lots of fun making special cards for the occasion. Here are some photos from the activities with my classes:

Romanian version:

In 24 februarie, in unele parti din Romania, se sarbatoreste Dragobetele. In acest an am hotarat sa sarbatorim atat Dragobetele cat si ziua de Sf. Valentin atat ca ziua indragostitilor cat si ca Ziua prieteniei, in functie de varsta elevilor mei. Iata cateva poze de la activitatile organizate saptamana asta la scoala:
